Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) says
there is a need to audit 2020 election results, but that he is NOT bowing to
Trump. Whoa!!!
Another WTF moment: Okay if Abbott believes that then what about the fact that Trump won Texas by some 5.6% which is about 600,000 votes over Biden’s.
So, why order an audit now?
Then this from the Texas Secretary of State who announced that his office was reexamining the results
in the counties of Dallas, Collin (Dallas), Harris (Houston) and Tarrant (Fort
Worth).
– That
official announcement was only hours after the release of Trump’s letter to Abbott
(I posted here earlier) when Trump said in no uncertain terms: “Let's
get to the bottom of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam!”
Then Abbott goes on a Sunday
TV show (Fox
of course) and says the timing of Trump’s letter had nothing to do with
his decision to have the audit.
If Abbott believes that
then he surely also believes in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Easter Bunny.
Abbott’s announcement comes two days after an months long
audit by Cyber Ninjas (Trump loyalists from FL with no experience in such
matters) who had cited some issues in Arizona’s handling of the 2020 election
but now has confirmed that Biden had won Maricopa County, which was the focus
of their audit effort, and, therefore, Biden won by even more votes than believed at the time
and Trump lost more, too.
AZ Secretary of
State Katie Hobbs said: “The takeaway is that this was a
colossal waste of time and money. Critics have argued that the continued push
to reexamine the results of the 2020 election in various states is damaging
confidence in America‘s elections, undermining the Democratic process and
wasting taxpayers’ money.”
The
divisive source is Trump historical analogy: He is fixated on getting
back to the White House and to Texas recently wrote and made it abundantly
clear he believes the election was stolen, despite mountains of evidence to the
contrary where in states have stood by the results they certified, and over 50 courts
have rejected almost all of the lawsuits filed by Trump and his backers.
This is Trump’s “Big
Lie” put simply: “The 2020 was stolen from me, and only I can fix it.”
Hitler’s “Big Lie”
was just as simple: “Germany did not lose WWI – the Jews have since caused the
current turmoil and only I can fix it.”
My 2 Cents: Abbott
in a word is an arrogant fool and hardcore Trump sycophant like so many others in
the GOP and in Fox-like circles, and even worse is that Abbott is a
clown – a showoff and that too is just like Trump, apparently his mentor.
Hard to believe the voters
in Texas can tolerate Abbott and those around him in these troubling times –
since he makes things worse: The new Texas abortion law; the new Texas voting law;
and now this 2020 audit farce. Very troubling in deed.
