Wow talk about the nerve of Donald J. Trump – this takes the proverbial cake – story here from Business Insider with this headline:

“Trump calls on federal judge to block release of his tax returns to Congress”

· Trump has asked a federal judge to block the release of his tax returns to Congress.

· Trump’s lawyers argue that House Democrats want his tax information for “political gain.”

· DOJ determined that the Treasury Department must turn over Trump's tax returns to Congress.

Key parts that Trump’s lawyers told the court:

1. “The requests have always been a transparent effort by one political party to harass an official from the other party because they dislike his politics and speech.”

2. “The requests single out President Trump because he is a Republican and a political opponent.”

3. “They were made to retaliate against President Trump because of his policy positions, his political beliefs, and his protected speech, including the positions he took during the 2016 and 2020 campaigns.”

4. “The DOJ opinion gives wobbly justifications and shallow reasoning.”

5. The ballsy part: The lawyers also asked the judge “…to order House Democrats to end all ongoing examinations into Trump and his companies.”

My 2 Cents: Freedom based on this or that “We the People” generally accept in most, not all cases. 

There is no freedom to be a serial criminal hiding behind flimsy excuses that Trump has his entire life when challenged on solid legal grounds. 

Getting his taxes are on rock solid ground. 

The public, in this case, does have a compelling need and right to know about his taxes (that he promised years ago), and he needs to be reminded that no one is above the law.
