SECOND UPDATE OF THE FOLLING EARLIER UPDATE AND ORIGINAL POST:

Elon Musk in a Trump cabinet running our economy; if so, strap in and prepare to watch our great collapse but along the way making billionaires Trump and Musk and their BFF’s the richest ever.

Musk says that Trump’s plans to put the U.S. on firmer fiscal footing would likely entail “temporary hardship” for ordinary Americans.   

At a virtual town hall event on October 25 held on Musk’s social media platform, X, the multibillionaire Tesla and SpaceX executive said he was: “Praying for a victory for Trump, so that he could begin working in a high-level cabinet role to axe federal spending.”

Musk added: “We have to reduce spending to live within our means. And, you know, that necessarily involves some temporary hardship, but it will ensure long-term prosperity.”

Many economists agree that Trump’s economic and fiscal proposals could spark an economic calamity, though it is not clear whether they have considered, or given credence, to Musk’s calls for austerity. 

In that regard note: 23 Nobel Prize-winning economists warned in a joint letter released last week warned that: “Trump’s plans for tariffs, tax cuts, and an immigration crackdown, including detaining and deporting millions of people — would lead to higher prices, larger deficits, and greater inequality. Trump would undermine the rule of law and political certainty that are the most important determinants of economic success.”

My 2 Cents: Trump letting Musk run the economy as noted above would be in my opinion the same as that of the 23 Nobel economists cited above – the worst decision ever.

It would mark the end of America being #1 in the world as we are now rated or worse with those two running our economy. So, Trump gives Musk the money-management job and what does Musk do?

He recycles profits, while claiming them a “savings” back to Trump thus moving Trump up on Forbes’ scale of the richest which is the long held Trump aim.

I may be wrong but I see it that way. “Quid pro quo baby” – is their theme song from January 6, 2025 onward if Trump were to win.

“Philly DA sues to halt Elon Musk’s $1 million voter giveaway in Pennsylvania”

The DA has sued to halt Elon Musk’s $1 million daily giveaway to voters in battleground states including PA calling it an illegal lottery that skirts state requirements and violates consumer protection laws.

The suit, filed in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court, is the first legal action challenging the controversial sweepstakes launched earlier this month by Musk’s America PAC.

It comes a week after the DOJ similarly warned the tech billionaire that the giveaway violates federal laws banning inducements to voters. Most legal experts at many levels agree; it's illegal.

Musk wrote on his X page: Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson: “Shame on you for blatantly lying to the public! You only plan to remove ineligible voters AFTER this election. That necessarily means that there are far more people registered to vote than there eligible voters.”

Benson responded on his X page: “Let’s be clear: Elon Musk is spreading dangerous disinformation. Here are the facts: There aren’t more voters than citizens in Michigan. There are 7.2 million active registered voters and 7.9 citizens of voting age in our state. Musk is pushing a misleading number that includes 1.2 million inactive records slated for removal in accordance with the law.”

Musk did not respond to a request for comment from The AP.

KEY FACTS FROM MICHIGAN: There were approximately 7.9 million people of voting age in Michigan as of July 1, 2023.

This figure is 500,000 fewer than the total registered voters — approximately 8.4 million. That’s because the total registered voters include 1.2 million voters who are inactive.

Those labeled inactive have not voted for six consecutive years or have not responded to a notice confirming their residency. Inactive voters are still eligible to vote. 

Under state and Federal law, voters are only removed from voter rolls after they have been sent a notice that their registration is subject to cancellation and two subsequent federal election cycles have passed without any response or voting activity.

Voter registration cannot be canceled only because of a failure to vote.

This waiting period is why there are more total registered voters than eligible ones in the state.

More than 339,000 voter registrations are slated for cancellation in 2025 and more than 257,000 in 2027.

As of March 2024, Michigan had canceled more than 800,000 voter registrations since 2019, including:

· 273,609 for possible changes of residency,

· 532,513 for deaths,

· 16,716 at the request of the voter (that according to MI's Department of State).

The RNC and two individual voters filed a federal lawsuit in March against Benson and MI’s Bureau of Elections Director for failing to “maintain clean and accurate voter registration records.” 

That suit was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Jane Beckering, saying: “The plaintiffs lacked legal standing and had no plausible claim.”

Michigan is hardly the only state with large numbers of inactive voters on its rolls. Every state — aside from the six which are exempt from the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) — must send voters a cancellation notice and wait two federal election cycles before removing inactive voters. 

The large number of inactive voters is a sign of robust list maintenance, according to David Becker, the founder and executive director of The Center for Election Innovation and Research, who served as a co-chair on Michigan’s Election Security Advisory Commission.
