Another update and probably not the last one, either on this topic.
Major update on the following proving once again that Rep.
Comer (R-KY) and his committee radicals are way off the mark on attacking the
FBI and their so-called whistleblower after the Bidens as outlined in the post.
This article blows the lid off that case in more ways than
listed below as reported on here from the WASHINGTON EXAMINER with this
headline:
“GOP whistleblower witness
suspended from FBI for leaking info to right-wing group”
Heart of this update story:
An FBI special agent who testified for Republicans as a
whistleblower (and mentioned in their bombshell-to-dud story) was suspended
from the agency for leaking classified information to a right-wing group,
according to a bureau official (reported by NBC).
Garret
O'Boyle had testified that the FBI was
intentionally mishandling investigations during a public hearing by the House Select Committee on the
Weaponization of the Federal Government, and he
accused the agency of retaliation for speaking out, resulting in a suspension
from his post.
O'Boyle previously testified to Rep. Jordan's (R-OH), Weaponization subcommittee, that he was suspended from the
bureau based on allegations and he never revealed sensitive information to
outside groups, including the media.
O'Boyle is now being accused of lying to Congress about leaking sensitive information before his suspension, according to House Committee on the Judiciary Democrats.
FBI
internal investigators discovered that O'Boyle leaked confidential investigative
information to “Project Veritas” the conservative
group infamous for recording undercover videos (NBC reports).
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) sent a
letter requesting that Attorney General Merrick Garland investigate the
accusation that O'Boyle lied to Congress.
Jennifer Moore, executive assistant director of human
resources for the FBI, provided testimony to the Weaponization subcommittee on
the reason for O'Boyle's suspension.
The House Judiciary Democrats Twitter posted:
“Moore provided the committee with several examples of when nonpublic
information ended up in the public domain and explained how the internal
investigation determined Boyle was responsible. Moore pointed to an interview
that Project Veritas conducted with an anonymous subject referred to as an ‘FBI
whistleblower.’ She said the agency was able to determine O'Boyle was that
subject.”
According to a submitted suspension letter to the committee,
O'Boyle was removed on September 13, 2022.
The main full article is at the link above and now it fills in
the blanks on the original main post below, too.
My 2 Cents: Again Rep. Comer (R-KY) has egg all over his lying face as seen in
this whole comprehensive article that basically is as Trump
would call it: “A witch hunt” but only this is from the GOP’s side NOT the DEMS.
Thanks for stopping – enjoy
the whole package and to Rep. Comer, please just STFU, okay?
Main article from here:
Another long update on Rep. Comer (R-KY) and his witch hunt to
take down President Joe Biden and his family as well taking down the FBI along
the way here from THE HILL with various other sources includes below with this general topic headline:
“Laundering thin innuendo:
White House attacks Comer’s credibility ahead of contempt proceedings against
FBI”
The White House is attacking GOP House Oversight Committee chairman
James Comer (R-KY) and his credibility ahead of the proceedings to hold FBI
director Christopher Way in contempt of Congress over a document related to
President Biden.
Comer has been demanding a document from the FBI, saying it outlines an unverified and unspecified “alleged criminal scheme involving a foreign national and President Joe Biden when he was vice president under Obama.”
Ian Sams, White House spokesperson for oversight and
investigations, wrote in a memo first obtained by the Hill with a lot facts: “This
repetitive tactic of laundering thin innuendo has proven his total lack of
credibility – and lays bare why his baseless or debunked claims deserve
derision.”
The Sams memo also says: “The FBI briefed Comer and Rep. Jamie
Raskin (D-MD), the top Democrat on the Oversight panel, about the documents Comer
says he has, but Comer is moving ahead with proceedings against Wray, saying
the FBI is refusing to hand over the unclassified document into the custody of
the committee.”
Sams' memo continued: “In just a few short months, Comer and his MAGA Republican colleagues in Congress have torpedoed their credibility by repeatedly failing to deliver on much-hyped allegations. Their fact-free wild goose chase continues to be a waste of taxpayer resources when House Republicans should instead be focusing on real issues American families care about. Comer in his memo is pushing the allegation that there is a document related to a foreign bribery scheme involving Biden in order to make appearances on ring-wing outlets and just to get on TV so he can simply say ‘Biden’ and ‘bribery’ over and over again in the same sentence.”
Sams also called Comer’s efforts to get the FBI to hand over
the document a political stunt to get air time on Fox News, as he also highlighted
in the memo that the Washington Post reported that the allegation was not
supported by facts.
NBC also reported that the
allegation was not substantiated.
CNN also reported that the
FBI and prosecutors couldn’t corroborate the claims.
Sams continued in his memo concluding: “Instead of spending their time and energy working on the issues that matter most to the American people, like lowering costs, creating jobs, or strengthening health care, congressional Republicans, led by…Comer and his committee, have spent six months wasting taxpayer resources to stage politically-motivated stunts disguised as investigations. But the Comer playbook has become predictable: “Over-promise, then under-deliver.”
The FBI had originally declined to provide the document to Comer and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), who has also been behind the effort, but Comer said last week that Wray offered to let him see it at FBI headquarters. The FBI in their statement said it has been cooperative with Comer, calling an escalation to a contempt vote “unwarranted” (NBC report).
Deep background facts that
Comer seems to always skip:
The FBI and DOJ under then-AG Barr and appointed by Trump reviewed allegations from a confidential informant about Joe Biden and his family, and they determined there were no grounds for further investigative steps, according to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and other people familiar with the investigation. Raskin revealed the information about the investigation after he and Comer reviewed a document containing details of the allegation.
That document has been at the center of a weeks-long back
and forth between the FBI and Comer, who last month sought to force the agency
to produce the document via a subpoena.
After the two lawmakers reviewed the document in a secure
area on Capitol Hill, Comer announced that House Republicans would still pursue
holding FBI Director Christopher A. Wray in contempt of Congress telling
reporters: “Americans have lost trust in the FBI’s ability to enforce the law
impartially and demand answers, transparency and accountability.”
According to people
familiar with the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to
detail sensitive information, the allegation in the document came to the FBI
through the Pittsburgh field office, where Barr had created a channel for
allegations involving Ukraine.
That included materials from
Rudy Giuliani who had gathered from Ukrainian sources as he claimed to have
damaging information about Biden and his family.
The allegation contained
in the document was reviewed by the FBI at the time and was found to not be
supported by facts, and the investigation was subsequently dropped with the
Trump’s DOJ signing off on that precise conclusion.
1. Comer in a written statement said FBI officials told the
lawmakers: “That the unclassified, FBI-generated record has not been disproven.”
Note: That is bald-faced Comer lie as seen below in the official FBI
statement.
2. Rep. Raskin said: “The DOJ officials signed off on
closing the assessment of the information having found no evidence to
corroborate the allegations.”
This official opening statement from the FBI: “We, the FBI “did
not confirm Comer’s account of the meeting, and called his pursuit of a
contempt vote unwarranted.”
The FBI’s total official statement: “The FBI has continually demonstrated
its commitment to accommodate the committee’s request, including by producing
the document in a reading room at the U.S. Capitol. This commonsense safeguard
is often employed in response to congressional requests and in court
proceedings to protect important concerns, such as the physical safety of
sources and the integrity of investigations. The escalation to a contempt vote
under these circumstances is unwarranted.”
Comer said he plans to pursue a contempt vote after the FBI
made the document available, because the FBI would not give the committee the
document even though it is not classified.
My Comment on the Above: Comer needs to be fired and removed from any committee as a he is a fraud and lying con just like Trump.
More on this: Republicans Finally Admit They Have No Incriminating Evidence on Joe Biden.
A 65-page report, a press conference, and nothing to show for it: Republicans’ big investigation into the Biden family has revealed … not a lot.
The House GOP accused President Joe Biden and his entire family of engaging in business with foreign entities — but were unable to provide any actual evidence linking the president to any wrongdoing.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer released a 65-page memo detailing a sprawling investigation into Biden and some of his relatives, particularly his son Hunter. Nowhere in the massive document was there a specific allegation of a crime committed by Biden or any of his relatives.
During a press conference explaining the investigation, Comer was asked if he had evidence directly linking Biden to the corruption he had claimed.
Comer hemmed and hawed and ultimately admitted he didn’t have any evidence but would continue looking.
Then Comer was asked if he had evidence directly linking Joe Biden to alleged malfeasance. Comer indicated he does not. pic.twitter.com/AsatNEiMJd
— posted by Independent journalist Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) May 10, 2023
The 65-page GOP memo accuses the Biden family of involvement in a “scheme to peddle influence” in Romania from 2015 to 2017, as well as financial dealings with individuals in China. Hunter Biden’s name comes up repeatedly.
But the memo contains scant details of all of these alleged dealings, nor does
it contain any evidence that any laws were broken or that Biden was involved in
his son’s Chinese business.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking member of the Oversight
Committee, slammed Comer in a statement for: “Having failed
to provide factual evidence to support his wild accusations about the
president. He continues to bombard the public with innuendo,
misrepresentations, and outright lies, recycling baseless claims from stories
that were debunked years ago.”
Since taking control of the House, Republicans have been obsessed with
trying to dig up dirt on the Biden family, instead of actually governing.
Finally, I hope this will
suffice for what I hope is the clear cut summary of this Comer downright
insanity from U.S.
News & World Report here and I hope it will shut down Comer’s nuttiness.
The FBI typically does not share information about claims
that it is investigating, or comment on unfounded or discredited accusations in
order to protect its sources or spread baseless and damaging misinformation.
Comer provided no
indication of the source of the claims or any evidence that any potential
accusations contained in such a document are true.
But the FBI bureau did make an “extraordinary accommodation”
by bringing a partially redacted version of the document in question to a
secure facility at the Capitol for Comer and Raskin to view.
While Comer was unsatisfied after the meeting, Raskin said
officials told them at the briefing that the document dated back to the Trump
administration’s DOJ “… which had vetted the claims and decided there was no
grounds to escalate the report from an assessment to a preliminary
investigation.”
Raskin then old reporters the document featured what he
described as “secondhand hearsay.”
However, Comer released his statement after Raskin
reiterated in his statement above that the lawmakers “Were repeatedly told by
the FBI that the Trump DOJ came to the conclusion it had found
no sufficient evidence to justify further inquiry.”
My 2 Cents: I guess on that last point that Comer nearly fainted into
a heap after hearing the truth over and over all the while his views took another
series of hits it cesspool of garbage, and rightly so.
We shall see – stay tuned
for updates – but keep in the mind the truth will prevail and counter the GOP’s
BS on this serious set of their false claims.
FYI: My
earlier post related to this same subject is here with a lot of key factual
information that Comer will not address.
Thanks for stopping by.
