NY Suspends Rudy Gee's Law License: Timely and Acceptable Decision on Serious Problem

False statements in court about Trump’s loss in the November 2020 election cited

NEW YORK (AP) — An appeals court suspended Rudy Giuliani from practicing law in New York State because he made false statements while trying to get courts to overturn Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential race.

An attorney disciplinary committee said in its motion to suspend Giuliani’s license that there was “uncontroverted evidence” that Giuliani had made false statements to the courts, to the public, and to lawmakers as he pushed theories that the election was stolen through fraud.

The disciplinary committee wrote in part: “This country is being torn apart by continued attacks on the legitimacy of the 2020 election and of our current president, Joseph R. Biden. The hallmark of our democracy is predicated on free and fair elections. False statements intended to foment a loss of confidence in our elections and resulting loss of confidence in government generally damage the proper functioning of a free society.” 

A message seeking comment about the ruling was sent to Giuliani and his lawyer (June 24).

Giuliani was the primary mouthpiece for Trump’s lies after the 2020 election, standing at a press conference in front of “Four Seasons Total Landscaping” outside Philadelphia on the day the race was called for Biden by saying they would challenge what he claimed was a vast conspiracy by Democrats.

The lies around the 2020 election helped push an angry mob of pro-Trump rioters to storm the U.S. Capitol on January 6 in a shocking effort to stop the 2020 certification. Ever since, Republicans have used the Trump “Big Lie” to push stricter voting laws nationwide.

My 2 cents: Thus based on all we know now, have seen, and heard, it remains true that our free, fair, safe, and secure right to vote is surely under harsh GOP attack in many states and spreading like wildfire in the same pattern.

That pattern is based on vicious lies from Trump and those who believe him, follow him, and stick by him hoping he will be “reinstated,” 

That BTW: Is legally and constitutionally totally impossible.

Hopefully the USSC will have a chance to weigh in and shut this all down with one major court challenge – and hopefully soon as to not allow any interference with the 2022 election or any future elections.
