Trump’s Nasty Insults and Actions: Harmful Nationally, To Staunch Allies, and Around the Globe

Trump Mostly Degrades Women of Color
(Now with Israeli BFF on Tag Team)

This quick reminder and introduction to this post: In 2016, Trump described himself to The Washington Post as “the least racist person that you’ve ever encountered.”

This story and related issue from the TINC (Tweeter-in-Chief): Trump publicly urged the Israeli government to bar Reps. Omar and Tlaib shortly before the Israeli government announced their decision to bar them – just a coincidence, right? Yeah, right – hardly…

That Trump tweet: It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds.”

Reactions:

AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and the most powerful pro-Israel lobbying group in the U.S. in a statement referred to the BDS movement against Israel's occupation of Gaza and the West Bank in part writing: We disagree with Reps. Omar and Tlaib's support for the anti-Israel and anti-peace BDS movement, along with Rep. Tlaib's calls for a one-state solution. We also believe every member of Congress should be able to visit and experience our democratic ally Israel firsthand.”

DEMS in Congress condemned the move. This follows a reversal from Israel's announcement last month that it “…wouldn't bar any American lawmakers from entering out of respect for the U.S. Congress and the great alliance between Israel and America.”

Both Omar and Tlaib are strident critics of US-Israel policies and to those who support the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) agenda that seeks to punish Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.

Related: Israel passed a law in 2017 banning the entry of foreign nationals who publicly support any boycott of the Jewish state or its West Bank settlements.

My 2 cents: (1) I mostly disagree with Omar and Tlaib and even AOC on their views and policy stances in Congress, but they have that right as American citizens to speak out and also as duly-elected members of Congress, and (2) President Trump’s tweet and PM Netanyahu’s decision are both wrong.

Even though I dislike AIPAC for their strong-armed lobbying tactics and big money dumped into Congress, I do agree with this their assessment in the part I emphasized above about this action.

No country’s leader should ever tell another country what to do or not to do as Trump did in his tweet about barring these two from their visit to Israel.

Trump is flat out wrong (as usual) on most if not all of his foreign relations actions and decisions especially aimed and against at our friends, allies, and long-time treaty partners.

Trump continues to disgrace us from top to bottom – there is no question or doubt about that. This latest from him reinforces my contention and the facts regarding Trump’s ineptitude as president.

Thanks for stopping by.
