Trump loyalists: Obama takes jab at Trump: “Nobody in my administration got indicted”
Obama took a swipe at Trump over
those who have been caught up in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe,
saying: “They (the Trump camp) promised to take on corruption. Remember that? Instead, they went to
Washington and just plundered away. In Washington, they have racked up enough
indictments to field a football team. Nobody in my administration got indicted.”
Historical
note: Since
1969, Republican presidential administrations have had 121 criminal indictments
and 89 convictions. Democrats for the same period have had 3 indictments and only
1 conviction.
1. Michael Cohen: Sentenced to 3 years
in prison.
2. Roger Stone: Charged in Federal
Court, trial pending.
3. Richard Pinedo: Sentenced to 6
months in jail.
4. George Papadopoulos: Sentenced to
14 days in jail.
5. Paul Manafort: Charged/convicted,
sentenced to 90 months
in prison, NYS
16-count charges pending.
6. Konstantin Kilimnik: Obstruction of
justice, status pending.
7. Alex van der Zwaan: Sentenced to 30
days in jail.
8. Rick Gates: Financial fraud, lying
to FBI, trial pending.
9. Michael Flynn: Charged/pleaded
guilty, trial pending.
My 2 cents: So, Trump loyalists faced with hard
historical evidence (see above), how do they feel about this? Jubilant,
overwhelmed with “Fake News” (Trump’s
motto), at a loss for words (not
likely), or trusting and unconcerned.
S/C Mueller is not done
yet and states are lined up with more indictments and charges. So, stay tuned.
