Today Gone Tomorrow: Trump’s M.O.
(Not
the best he promised — far from it)
Short reminder on Trump's broken pledge to the people:
LOL LOL LOL
From
CNN – this report was on the first 18
months of the Trump presidency:
Those months have repeatedly has
revealed the fallacy of his “best people will be hired to work for the American
people” pledge. A myriad number of top members of his Cabinet and senior staff
have departed, many, if not most, often under suspicious circumstances (refer to list above).
Some 57% of Trump's so-called
“best people” ever team left the White House in just its first year and a
half, according to statistics maintained by Brookings Institute.
That nearly equals the turnover among top staffers for the entire first terms
of Barack Obama (71% turnover), George W. Bush (63%), Bill Clinton (74%) and
George H.W. Bush (66%).
Why? Maybe based on this: The arrogant one-man show attitude of Trump, remember
this from him to
Fox News' Laura Ingraham in November 2017:
“The one
that matters is me. I'm the only one that matters. Because when it comes to it,
that's what the policy is going to be.”
What that view overlooks is
that running the federal government is not the same thing as running a
business. Trump the businessman made a career out of relying only on himself
and a very tight knit group of family and hangers-on, e.g., his daughter (Ivanka
Trump-Kushner and her husband Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner) both work for
him in the White House, and both have met with far less success.
Whether Trump is playing the
long game – and that his consolidation of power will, in the end, create major
wins for the country – remains a topic of some debate.
What is beyond argument is
this: His first 18 months in office makes it clear that his plan to bring
together “the best and most serious people ever” has failed miserably.
My 2 cents: How can the public tolerate the constant Trump lies? Like
telling the troops and public that when he signed the 2018 defense
authorization bill is included a pay raise for the military - for the first
time in 10 years - he said. Cite: — Trump on
Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in remarks at the White House.
FYI: Our military has had pay
increases every fiscal year since 1975, except 1983 see the
chart here. Note: His statement was rated pants on fire.
What a terrible horrible man -
great snake oil con artist, however, but not much else.
Thanks for stopping by.
