Bye-Bye Trump-Kim Singapore Summit: Peaceful Reschedule or Turn Up the Nuke Heat

Painfully Obvious: So, Who Gets the Most Blame Now
(Kim, Trump-Bolton-Pence, or the Tooth Fairy)

Hey you two, make up your mind: Meet or not meet...
(Kiss and make up and stop fooling us)

UPDATED VIA NPR (May 25, 2018 late report):

Less than 24 hours after President Trump sent notice to North Korea that he was canceling next month's summit with Kim, Jong-un, Trump told reporters Friday that the meeting could still happen as planned.

Using one of his favorite phrases, Trump told reporters, "We'll see what happens," adding: “It could even be the 12th.” (Note: The original summit date was June 12).

Trump also said: “We're talking to them now. They very much want to do it. We'd like to do it. We'll see what happens.”

The same evening, Trump reiterated those sentiments on Twitter, writing: “We are having very productive talks with North Korea about reinstating the Summit.”

THE ORIGINAL POST FOLLOWS:

Background: Trump is in deep political trouble with Mueller and his personal lawyer Michael Cohen's woes; he has huge staffing issues; he can’t get or keep “the best people ever” (his words, not mine); he faces a disastrous midterm election in November; and now he has this mess [again] with North Korea since he cancelled the summit with Kim, Jong-un that was on the schedule for June in Singapore.

So, what can Trump do now?

Oh, simple, do as most other cornered Republicans do when in hot water start another war. North Korean is ready to boil (based on GOP fears, but not Kim’s words per se at least not yet). There is plenty of hot rhetoric and honestly this time more from our side – cite from this Newsweek piece:

In his letter to Kim calling off the summit, Trump once again raised fears that the alternative to diplomacy is military action against the reclusive, nuclear-armed state.

(Note: Trump is incapable of any kind of diplomacy so, is this his next option).

In a letter addressed directly to Kim, he cited a recent statement carried earlier by the official North Korean Central News Agency as the reason he canceled what would have been the first meeting between a sitting U.S. president and North Korean leader.

Trump attributed his decision to North Korean Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe, Son-hui, who branded Vice President Mike Pence “ignorant and stupid and a political dummy” for his threat to overthrow Kim as the U.S. did Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 when his country was in turmoil and he was brutally murdered by that “Arab Spring” mob.

Threatening to walk away from the summit, Choe said it was up to the U.S. to respect the talks, or face a “nuclear-to-nuclear showdown.”

Trump responded to that directly writing:You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.”

Trump later told a press conference: “Our military is ready if necessary along with our Pacific allies Japan and South Korea should foolish action be taken by North Korea.”

My 2 Cents: Ouch – that is hard core John Bolton-speak that Bolton loves and always advocates.

War is what Trump and the GOP need to stay in power despite their words otherwise.

Now, Trump may actually give us another one.

But, may I suggest this time around and right up front that all registered Republicans sign up and volunteer to be in the first wave of assaults, just to see how that pans out and catches on, okee-dokee?

Stay tuned – it might get ugly.

Thanks for stopping by.
