KSM and his 9/11 aftermath on that deadful day
INTRODUCTION (Full Story here: https://www.the-sun.com/news/16906529/nine-eleven-mastermind-trial-starts-terrorist)
HIGHLIGHTS and KEY POINTS:
AN ALLEGED mastermind of the 9/11 terror attacks will stand trial more than a quarter of a century after the depraved plot that killed thousands.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, 61, will face a military judge in June 2028 – having previously admitted he planned the infamous operation “from A-to-Z”.
The case has been bogged down for years by pre-trial legal hold-ups and arguments over what evidence can and cannot be used during the trial.
Key Points:
1. Some of the most critical issues include the confessions some of the men made at CIA prisons, where torture was used.
2. Mohammed had previously reached a plea deal where he would admit guilt in exchange for being spared the death penalty.
3. It would have given him a life sentence without possibility of parole.
4. But that agreement has been thrown out – and he is now set to stand trial more than 25 years after the devastating attacks which left nearly 3,000 dead.
My 2 Cents: Sorry for this long gap in posts - but this is newsworthy. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks for stopping by.
