DeSantis Out of Control: His Latest Stunt Against Peaceful Protestors Fails Any Rational Sense

FL GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis extends his “cultural war” against peaceful women protestors reported on from NEWSWEEK with this headline. One word describes DeSantis as despicable and that this is too is by any common sense and possibly legal measurement, too:

“Ron DeSantis Opponents Arrested in Florida Protesting Abortion Ban”

The Chair of the FL Democrats Nikki Fried and FL Democrat Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book (photos above) were among the 11 people arrested during their singing peaceful protest after DeSantis' new 6-week abortion ban was passed by the FL state Senate.

Police said protests erupted outside Tallahassee's City Hall only hours after the state Senate voted in favor of proposed legislation that would ban abortion in most cases after six weeks.

While abortion remains legal in Florida — thanks to recognition by the state's highest court of the right to abortion under the Florida Constitution — DeSantis and GOP lawmakers have been part of a nationwide GOP-led push for stricter legislation around the procedure at the state level.

The proposed six-week ban, known as B300, would further restrict access to abortion in FL where a 15-week ban providing no exception for rape or incest is already in place.

The 15-week ban was signed into law by DeSantis in April 2022 and went into effect in July, after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade that ended 50 years of federal protection of abortion rights across the country.

The law was one of the most controversial bans in the country in 2022, and the new legislation — which is expected to be approved by the state House and DeSantis in the coming weeks — appears to be just as divisive as this Senate bill.

Fried, Book, and singing peaceful protestors were arrested after police warned them that they couldn't be there after sundown (see short article video clip as one cop signals others to “cuff ‘em”).

A statement by the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) said that protests were only allowed during normal operating hours, but a group of demonstrators had expressed their wish to stay overnight. They were arrested for trespassing (on public property) “after multiple warnings throughout the day.”

My 2 Cents: Well, well – more harsh policy from the cultural warrior DeSantis in FL with this crazy 6-week abortion ban (FYI: Some, if not most, women don’t even know they are pregnant at 6 weeks).

DeSantis also seems to have adopted the model that the GOP in TN recently followed: Expelling two peaceful protestors like the two young black representatives for protesting gun violence in a Nashville school recently that killed 3 young students. Now DeSantis arrests peaceful non-violent protestors for trespassing in front of City Hall after sunset. How nutty is that!!!

So, how much more insane can this “new” GOP get? Apparently a lot, or so it seems.

Hang on tight it’s gonna be very ugly like this until we get through 2024 and in mostly GOP-run states.

Thanks for stopping by.
