DOJ Zeroing in on Trump: Is he Worried or Concerned — He is 100% and so is His Legal Team

DOJ's newest and best public service project

Legal advisers for Trump are “quietly preparing” for possible criminal charges to be filed by the Department of Justice, according to this Rolling Stone article with this headline:

“Trump’s Lawyers are Preparing Legal Defenses Against Criminal Charges”

Tidbits from Rolling Stone: Trump’s lawyers are preemptively preparing a legal defense against criminal charges from the Justice Department, as the former president’s lawyers are increasingly anxious that their client will be prosecuted for his role in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Members of his legal team have already begun brainstorming strategy and potential defenses, according to three people familiar with the matter and written communications reviewed by Rolling Stone. Trump himself has been briefed on potential legal defenses on at least two occasions this summer, two of the sources say.

That effort intensified after former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s June testimony before the House committee investigating January 6.

According to internal communications reviewed by Rolling Stone, Trump’s team is “quietly” planning for criminal charges as they wait for the Justice Department to make its move

Also, reported on here from Mediaite with this similar headline:

“Trump Legal Team ‘Quietly Preparing’ for Criminal Charges from the DOJ, including ‘Searching for Fall Guys’ to Blame”

According to the reports Trump’s legal team has been growing “increasingly anxious” that the ex-president could face prosecution for his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden, including the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Tidbits from Mediaite:

Legal advisers for Trump are “quietly preparing” for possible criminal charges to be filed by the Department of Justice, according to Rolling Stone including strategizing for one or more “fall guys” to take the blame.

Three anonymous sources described as “people familiar with the matter” spoke to Rolling Stone and provided written communications for the magazine to review, saying that the lawyers were “brainstorming strategy and potential defenses,” and that Trump had been briefed “on potential legal defenses on at least two occasions this summer.”

Apparently the testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Trump’s then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, before the January 6 House Select Committee was the trigger for why the legal team had “intensified” their efforts, the sources claimed.

My 2 Cents: Not much to add except to say that it appears finally that the proverbial walls are closing in on Trump. Even his niece Mary Trump used that phrase recently (July 9) this way when asked.

Katie Phang on her MSNBC show asked Mary Trump: What do you think is going through his mind right now? Because there's an incredibly even larger amount of damning testimony that's coming out, and notably he did not attack Pat Cipollone before he testified before the 1/6 committee.”

Mary Trump said: “To say that Donald is terrified is accurate and also an understatement. I think this might be the first time in his entire life that even he can't deny that the walls may indeed be closing in.”

That is pretty much how I feel, and it can’t come soon enough. But, this will not be a clear cut case, but it should be – history is being made and Trump knows it and he will milk the media attention 100% and 24/7 since it involves a former president and well, he likes being first - this meets that goal.

Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by.
