Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, a far-right New Yorker looking to replace Rep. Liz Cheney in House leadership, has aggressively spread lies about the 2020 election.
Stefanik (age
36) was one of 147 Republican lawmakers: 8 senators and 139 House members who
voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election after pro-Trump loyalists
stormed the Capitol on January 6.
Also:
1. She objected to the Electoral College votes in a few swing
states and promoted baseless allegations of widespread voter fraud.
2. She also backed a lawsuit brought by the Texas attorney
general to overturn the results in four swing states President Joe Biden won.
The Supreme Court declined to take up the case.
Trump issued public statement (May 5) about his opposition to Cheney that centers on her refusal to spread lies about the election, referring to her this way: “Warmonger Liz Cheney, who has virtually no support left in the Great State of WY, continues to unknowingly and foolishly say that there was no Election Fraud in 2020, when in fact, the evidence, including no Legislative approvals as demanded by the U.S. Constitution, shows the exact opposite.”
So, the GOP will kick out an honest truth teller like Cheney for a liar like
Stefanik. Wow…
Well, that does seem normal these days since the GOP got elected: Reps like Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Lauren Boebert (CO) & Matt
Gaetz (FL) and other wackies already in office
(and boy there is a lot of them recently).
Cheney was one of just 10 House Republicans to vote to
impeach Trump for inciting the January 6 Capitol riot.
Harvard's Kennedy School of Government removed Stefanik from
its Institute of Politics' advisory committee in January after she made a slew
of false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Doug Elmendorf, the school's dean, said at the time. “Elise has made public assertions about
voter fraud in November's presidential election that have no basis in evidence,
and she has made public statements about court actions related to the election
that are incorrect. These assertions and statements do not reflect policy
disagreements but bear on the foundations of the electoral process through
which this country's leaders are chosen.”
Stefanik, who was removed from the Harvard committee after refusing
to step down, took pride in the punishment and accused her alma mater of
“caving to the woke left,” adding: “A conservative Republican, it is a rite of
passage and badge of honor to join the long line of leaders who have been
boycotted, protested and canceled by colleges and universities across America.”
My 2 cents: In all
fairness, Rep. Stefanik is my representative in the House from here in Upstate
NY.
I have spoken out against her since the first day she announced and ever since: She is a showoff, grandstanding PR hound in everything he says and does.
Her latest 2020 post-election stunts are listed above and I stand by that and her awful public record.
She is as phony as anyone and the evidence is clear. She is a hardcore Republican who will do, say, try, lie, imply, or deny anything to stay in office, and she has an awful House record to prove it.
But, this stunt to replace Liz Cheney is her biggest yet,
but know this – she has higher ambitions – but don’t they all?
Thanks for stopping by.
