It is Easy to Know a Lie and Liar: Just Don't Ask Stephen Bannon — He is Clever and Clueless

President Trump is still the #1 liar and I am #2
(Don't ever forget that, ever)

Amazing story here from The Hill – in full disclosure (I emphasize he key parts).

Headlines: Stephen Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist, says that he does not believe that Trump lies.

“[Trump] has not always told the truth,” host Jonathan Karl said during an interview on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I don't know that,” Bannon responded. “This is another thing to demonize him.”
“You think the president's never lied?” Karl asked in a follow-up question.

“Not to my knowledge, no,” replied Bannon. “Except when he called me Sloppy Steve.”

“He says things that are not true all the time,” the ABC host interjected.

“I don't believe that,” Bannon said. “I think he speaks in a particular vernacular that connects the people in this country.”

Karl later noted that Trump acknowledged he lied to The New York Times about a Trump Tower meeting and asked Bannon if some lies are OK.

Bannon said that he did not know whether Trump’s comments qualified as a lie.

Trump had said that it didn’t matter that he lied to the news media about his son’s 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russian nationals. The president’s lawyers said that he had dictated a statement about the meeting that Donald Trump Jr. then went on to release.

“It’s irrelevant. It’s a statement to The New York Times. The phony, failing New York Times,” Trump said last week. “That is not a statement to a high tribunal of judges, that’s a statement to the phony New York Times.”

My 2 cents: Wow to that last statement from Trump – lie to the press who prints what he says to the public and that’s okay?

In Trump-world I guess it is since he follows up by calling the media the Enemy of American people” and boy does that stick with his base.

Not much more to add to this back and forth except maybe to say, yep, that is Trump’s goal – lie, be convincing that it is not a lie, and expect or in some cases, demand, that his staff and loyalists believe him no matter what he says or how big or many the lies are.

That is pretty much true and can’t be spun any other way, but boy to Bannon types along with Kellyanne Conway and Huckabee-Sanders key figures tell us practically every single day.

My only question is this: Is this 100% Trump-driven – his natural character to lie the way he does or is someone behind the scene (maybe Bannon) guiding him in the process by fluffing him and telling him “stick to that it is working.”

Thanks for stopping by.
