A nasty insulting man in the mirror
image of Donald J. Trump
(Apparently
Trump’s insulting brand is catching)
Retired USAF Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, a FOX military
analyst came under fire for saying on FOX Business that Sen. John McCain
cracked under torture while he was held prisoner in Vietnam — and said that was
“proof that torture works.” FOX rightly so has banned him – a wise and smart
move. Surprised they did – good for them.
Story
links here and here.
The
tasteless remarks followed McCain’s statement that he would vote against President Trump’s nominee to head
up the CIA, Gina Haspel.
McInerney said: “Well she can’t use it (the now
outlawed techniques) anymore because we have determined in Congress that it’s
not legal. The fact is, it worked on John. That’s why they call him “Songbird John.”
The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, as former Vice
President Dick Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million
American lives, we will do whatever we have to.”
Historical Note: There is no evidence whatsoever that
McCain, a Navy pilot who was shot down and tortured in captivity in North Vietnam
during the war, ever cooperated with them in any sense.
My 2 Cents: Added to the above, no, torture does
not work, but everyone does break alone the line … most will say anything to
stop the torture – then in most cases their stories turn out to be fake, false,
and if true, only in tiny parts – and usually not worthwhile or actionable as
we say in the intelligence business.
So, “Welkom to the new Trump brand of Amerika.” That
is a sorry fact that cannot be denied – if Trump can fling nasty insult at will
then why can’t his loyalists and staff and supporters do the same thing and in
spades as they say, and they do all across the country – on talk radio and TV
and in print.
Trump sets an example all right – a crappy one.
When will this madness ever stop? Probably only after
he is removed from office – but even then we will see copycat Trumpettes, in
fact we do now in many GOP primary and other races.
Sad commentary isn’t it?
Thanks for stopping by.
