GOP Yesterday and Today: What Happened, By Whom, Why, For What Purpose and Goal

The GOP in Years Gone By

The GOP Today
(Even worse on some issues)

Absolutely super article (The Washington Post – by E.J. Dionne Jr.) and the most-stark and honest and on target assessment about: The GOP is the party of the ultra-rich and make no mistake about, and now more than (even if that’s possible) they don’t even try and hide and when they do, their camouflage and concealment are both transparent. This modern GOP will do, say, pay, try, lie, imply, and deny anything to cover what their real goal is: Cut taxes for the top to help the bottom.

They favor and help and support and pander to the wealthy as never before and without shame, or question, or doubt, or hidden agenda. And, now more than ever (again) in our face as clear as a bell and they seem to be proud in “Making America’s Wealthy Richer Again”). Dionne’s introduction here basically says it all in just a few paragraphs (my emphasis added):

1.  “Add this to the growing file folder that can be labeled “Depressing but not surprising” – the only thing today’s Republican Party knows how to do is cut taxes for the very rich.”

2.  “It’s depressing because the GOP has abandoned roles it once played in our public life: pioneering programs aimed at assisting Americans of modest means in lifting themselves up, and supporting productive government investments that the private sector was unlikely to undertake.”

3.  “The party of Donald Trump, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell has abandoned the legacy of Abraham Lincoln, who championed the Homestead Act and land-grant colleges; Teddy Roosevelt, who protected vast tracts of nature on behalf of future generations; and Dwight Eisenhower, who pushed for student loans and the Interstate Highway System.”

3.  “The heirs to Honest Abe, TR and Ike seem to believe in only one thing: throwing vast quantities of money at the already wealthy. And they have the nerve to pretend that they aren’t really trying to further enrich the moneyed classes. They claim that comforting the comfortable will someday, really and truly, help working people by creating jobs and economic growth.”

Story continues here Drop Mr. Dionne a note for his fine article, and then tell the GOP: “Get Real and Stop this Madness.”

FYI: This latest GOP “tax plan” (that the wave proudly) is the worst in history.

It may be Trump’s #1 legacy item but only since it benefits him and everyone in his 1-2% billionaire and ultra-millionaire circle; just not for the 98% rest of the country.

They get the gold mine and we get the shaft, debris and dust.

Thanks for stopping by.
